Derrick Henry Ran Through the NFL’s Top Run Defense, Then Called Out the Doubters

Derrick Henry went for 102 rushing yards against an Atlanta defense that came into Sunday Night Football ranked first against the run, and the Ravens stole a 30-23 overtime win over the Falcons. Then King Henry made sure the people who picked against Baltimore heard about it.

As first reported by ClutchPoints, Henry brought up an Instagram post he’d saved before the game, one full of predictions that Atlanta would shut him down. His message to the Baltimore Sun: “You were one of them. I couldn’t wait for this moment.”

How Baltimore Pulled It Off

This one looked over. The Ravens trailed 23-15 with roughly 40 seconds left in regulation, and Lamar Jackson wasn’t even on the field because of an injury. Backup Tyler Huntley hit Devontez Walker for a 7-yard touchdown, and Henry punched in the two-point conversion himself to tie it at 23. In overtime, Huntley finished the job with the game-winning touchdown.

The IAHHM Take

Receipts culture has officially reached the NFL backfield. Henry is a future Hall of Famer, and he still keeps the screenshots. That’s the same energy every rapper who ever got overlooked brought to the booth, and it’s why fans connect with him.

But the bigger story is what this says about Baltimore. A team without its MVP-caliber quarterback, down eight with under a minute left, on the road, in prime time, found a way. When your offense runs through a back who can carry the load against the league’s best run defense, you’re never really out of a game.

The question now: is Henry still the most feared running back in football, or is he just the most stubborn? Tell us in the comments.
