Monday Night Football gave us an instant classic, and then it gave us a punch. After the Buffalo Bills beat the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 in overtime at SoFi Stadium, Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson walked up on Bills pass-rusher Bradley Chubb during the postgame jersey swaps and threw a punch that appeared to land, as first reported by CBS Sports. Teammates pulled the two apart before it went any further.
Chubb, who finished with two tackles, kept it light afterward. He called it “just emotions” and said his trash talk wasn’t aimed at one guy. It was “just the whole team.”
The Game Before the Fight
This one deserved better than a sideshow ending. According to the Associated Press, there were six straight lead changes. Josh Allen put up 331 total yards (210 passing, 121 rushing) and got the first overtime win of his career. Matthew Stafford threw for 383 yards and three scores, Puka Nacua caught a career-high 17 balls, and Kyren Williams punched in a 1-yard TD with four seconds left to force OT. Then Greg Rousseau blocked Harrison Mevis’ overtime field goal try, and Tyler Bass drilled a 45-yarder to win it.
The IAHHM Take
Talk is part of the game. Swinging is not, and Jackson should know the cost better than anybody. CBS notes he was suspended two games in 2024 under the personal conduct policy, and the league suspended Lions safety Brian Branch one game in 2025 for a postgame fight. A fine is the floor here. A suspension for a starting left tackle on a 2-3 team would hurt even more.
Buffalo moves to 4-1 and heads to Las Vegas. The Rams host Arizona needing a reset, on and off the field. For more Week 5 storylines, check out Derrick Henry running through the doubters and Mike Evans’ all-time jersey troll.
So what do you think? One game, two games, or just a fine for Jackson?
