DK Metcalf was asked what he has to watch for against Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner ahead of Sunday’s Steelers-Colts game, and the Pittsburgh receiver gave the coldest answer possible: “Who?”
When the question came again, Metcalf kept it simple: “Winning my matchup,” adding, “They gotta guard me.” The exchange was first highlighted by ClutchPoints, which tied the clip to an X post from @MySportsUpdate.
The IAHHM Take: This Beef Has Receipts
This isn’t random trash talk. Metcalf and Gardner have seen each other three times already, all while Sauce was with the Jets. Before the 2025 opener, Gardner said on Up & Adams that the two “don’t even talk” and that he knew how to get under Metcalf’s skin. Metcalf answered with four catches for 83 yards in Pittsburgh’s 34-32 win at MetLife Stadium.
Now the setting has changed. The Jets shipped Gardner to Indianapolis in November 2025 for receiver Adonai Mitchell and two first-round picks, and he has four pass breakups through four games this season. Metcalf is coming off his best game of the year: five catches for 115 yards in the Week 4 Thursday night loss to Cleveland, including big grabs on the game-tying drive, after a few drops early in the season.
The stakes are real, too. Both teams are 2-2. The Colts have won two straight, and Aaron Rodgers has thrown six of his seven touchdown passes in the last two weeks. Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium.
Talking like this only works if you back it up. Metcalf did last time. If Sauce locks him up today, though, “Who?” is going to follow DK around for a while.
