LaNorris Sellers threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 96 yards and two more scores as South Carolina blew out Oklahoma 42-25 on Saturday in Norman, as reported by Deadspin.
The Gamecocks led 28-10 at halftime and held the Sooners to just 71 yards in the first half and 359 overall. The highlight of the night was Sellers’ 84-yard touchdown strike to DJ Black. The win pushes South Carolina to 5-3 (3-3 SEC) and gives the Gamecocks three straight wins after a three-game losing streak. Oklahoma fell to 4-4.
Sooners head coach Brent Venables didn’t sugarcoat it afterward, saying his team got beat “in every way,” per ClutchPoints. He also praised the opposing quarterback: “The quarterback played fantastic.”
The IAHHM Take
This is the version of LaNorris Sellers that had NFL scouts circling his name before the season. Big arm, real speed, and the poise to take over a road game in a hostile SEC building. When he’s this locked in, South Carolina can hang with anybody.
The bigger story is the bounce-back. A three-game skid could have sunk the season. Instead, the Gamecocks have ripped off three straight and look like a team nobody wants to see in November. For fans across the Carolinas, this is the kind of win that reminds you why Saturday in the South hits different. Oklahoma heads to Florida next Saturday, still trying to find answers. As for Sellers, is he the most exciting quarterback in the SEC right now? Sound off.
