Charlotte already played. The 49ers hosted Tulane on Friday night and lost 38-31 in overtime.

NC A&T vs. Elon: The 100th GHOE

1:00 p.m., Truist Stadium, Greensboro. FloSports.

This is the big one. A&T’s homecoming week runs Oct. 25 through Nov. 1 for the 100th edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth, with coronation, the tailgate, the alumni concert, the parade and the stepshow all on the slate. Reports have projected around 200,000 people in town for the centennial.

On the field, the Aggies (3-5, 2-2) come in on a two-game win streak and fresh off a bye. Their last time out, Kevin White threw three touchdowns in a 27-12 win over Chicago State, A&T’s third straight home win. Michael Carlock-Williams has five touchdown catches on the year. Elon (4-4, 2-2) has dropped three straight but comes in as a 10.5-point favorite, and it is only about 25 miles down the road, so expect a real crowd on both sides.

Shaw Homecoming vs. Bluefield State

1:00 p.m., Durham County Memorial Stadium. Shaw Bears Sports Network on theciaasn.com.

Shaw (4-5, 2-5 CIAA) is trying to snap a four-game skid in front of its homecoming crowd. The stadium tailgate runs 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, and the weekend closes with a chapel service on Sunday. Heads up: clear bags only, and parking is cash only.

CIAA Race: Virginia State at JCSU

1:00 p.m., Irwin Belk Complex, Charlotte. CIAA Sports Network.

The game of the day in the CIAA. Johnson C. Smith (6-2, 5-1) took its first conference loss last week at Bowie State despite outgaining the Bulldogs 383-194. Now Maurice Flowers’ Golden Bulls get unbeaten-in-league Virginia State (7-1, 6-0), which has won five straight. Watch RB Fabian Duncan and QB Damien Mazil. A JCSU win keeps its title hopes alive.

Fayetteville State vs. Bowie State

1:00 p.m., Luther “Nick” Jeralds Stadium, Fayetteville. CIAA Sports Network.

Another playoff-race showdown. The Broncos (5-3, 4-2) have won two straight, including a 51-13 rout at Bluefield State, and QB Jamir Dismukes has 1,291 passing yards and 10 touchdowns this year. Bowie State (4-4, 4-2) is coming off that win over JCSU. It is FSU’s final regular-season home game, so pull up.

WSSU at Elizabeth City State

1:00 p.m., Roebuck Stadium, Elizabeth City. Stream on theciaasn.com/ecsu.

Both teams are 2-6 (2-4). The Rams have won two in a row, beating Bluefield State 43-14 and Lincoln 21-14. It is Senior Day and a breast cancer awareness blackout game for ECSU. WSSU’s own homecoming is next week, Nov. 7 vs. Fayetteville State.

Howard at NC Central

2:00 p.m., O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium, Durham. ESPN+.

NCCU’s first MEAC home game of the season. The Eagles opened league play by beating Delaware State 31-12, with Gino Addison running for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Howard in Durham is always a big HBCU matchup.

VUL at Livingstone

2:00 p.m., Alumni Memorial Stadium, Salisbury.

Livingstone (2-6) has lost four straight and wants momentum before its finale against JCSU. Virginia University of Lynchburg comes in 0-7.

NC State Homecoming: Life After Doeren

12:00 p.m., Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh. ACC Network.

The Wolfpack (3-4, 1-3) play their first game since firing Dave Doeren, with interim coach Todd Goebbel on the sideline for the rest of the season. Off the field, the search is the story: ESPN reported Philip Rivers as a candidate and On3 reports he is the focus, though Rivers says nothing is imminent (more on that here). On the field, NC State is a 7-point favorite over Cal (3-5) for homecoming, with QB CJ Bailey coming off 256 yards and two scores against Stanford.

Duke vs. Boston College

12:00 p.m., Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham. The CW.

Manny Diaz’s Blue Devils (5-2) snapped a two-game skid with a 19-16 win at Virginia. Boston College (4-3) has won two straight under Bill O’Brien after going 2-10 last season.

ECU vs. Temple

3:00 p.m., Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, Greenville. ESPN+.

The Pirates (3-4) are bouncing back from a 41-34 overtime loss at Memphis and are 4.5-point favorites on Fan Appreciation Day. RB TJ Engelman Jr. has 582 rushing yards.

App State at Georgia Southern

6:30 p.m., Paulson Stadium, Statesboro. ESPN+.

Deeper Than Hate. App State (5-2) rolls in after wins over Coastal Carolina and James Madison, but Georgia Southern (3-4) is a 5.5-point favorite at home and won the last regular-season meeting.

No. 1 Miami at UNC

7:30 p.m., Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill. ABC.

Bill Belichick’s Tar Heels (4-3) are 14-point underdogs after blowing a 20-10 lead in a 31-30 overtime loss to Syracuse. Unbeaten Miami (7-0) brings QB Darian Mensah and his 22 touchdowns to one interception. The twist: UNC has won five straight against Miami dating back to 2019. Halloween night upset watch is on.
