Seahawks Release Trevon Diggs, but His Seattle Run Might Not Be Over

The Seattle Seahawks released cornerback Trevon Diggs on Friday, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, as reported by Bleacher Report. It may be more of a roster shuffle than a goodbye, though.

Why Seattle Made the Move

Per Gregg Bell of 93.3 KJR, cutting Diggs opened a 53-man roster spot so guard Anthony Bradford could come off injured reserve and play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. Bell also reported Seattle will likely try to bring Diggs back on the practice squad.

Diggs signed with the defending Super Bowl champs as a free agent on Aug. 19. He didn’t make the initial 53, landed on the practice squad and got promoted on Oct. 10 ahead of the Week 5 game against San Francisco. In three games with Seattle, he logged one tackle, and Pro Football Focus has him allowing a 91.7 passer rating when targeted.

The IAHHM Take

It’s wild how fast the NFL moves. Not long ago, Diggs was one of the most feared ballhawks in football. He made the Pro Bowl in 2021 and 2022 with Dallas and led the league with 11 interceptions in 2021. Then came a torn ACL in 2023 and a concussion that cost him time in 2025.

That’s the part fans forget. One injury can change a whole career arc, and Diggs is now fighting for a roster spot instead of being the guy offenses game-plan around. Still, players with that kind of ball instinct don’t come around often, and a practice squad spot with a contender keeps the door open.

Seattle is 3-3 right now, so depth in the secondary matters. If Diggs gets another shot and makes a play, the story flips fast.

Does Trevon Diggs have one more good run in him? Let us know.
