Giannis Debuts for the Heat Tonight, But His Heart Is Still With the Brewers

Giannis Antetokounmpo plays his first regular-season game for the Miami Heat tonight, but he’s still repping Milwaukee where it counts. Ahead of the World Series, Giannis showed love to the Brewers, calling their run “incredible” and saying he’s happy for the organization, as ClutchPoints reported.

This isn’t just a fan thing. Giannis joined the Brewers’ ownership group as an investor in 2021, and he gave credit to owner Mark Attanasio and his partners for investing in Milwaukee and its team.

The World Series Setup

The Brewers are back in the Fall Classic for the first time since 1982 after sweeping the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. They’ll face the Tampa Bay Rays, who beat Cleveland in six games for the AL pennant. Game 1 is Friday at American Family Field in Milwaukee, and neither franchise has ever won a World Series.

The IAHHM Take

Thirteen seasons with the Bucks, a title in 2021, and now he’s in Heat colors. Most stars who leave a city cut the cord. Giannis is doing the opposite: he still has a stake in Milwaukee, literally, and he’s not shy about it. That’s loyalty you don’t see often in today’s NBA.

Now the focus flips to South Beach. The Heat open their season tonight against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves at Kaseya Center on ESPN. The whole league will be watching how the Greek Freak looks in Miami, and how Erik Spoelstra builds around him. We already broke down one young Heat player who could benefit most: Pelle Larsson’s breakout case with Giannis in town.

Real question: if the Brewers win it all, does Giannis get a ring too? And how many does he win in Miami?
