The Carolina Panthers beat the Detroit Lions 32-26 on Sunday Night Football at Bank of America Stadium, and Charlotte let Bryce Young hear it with “MVP” chants. As first reported by ClutchPoints, Young heard them and stayed focused. According to reporter Mike Kaye, he was “more worried about getting off the next play.”
Young went 29-of-41 for 329 yards and two touchdowns. Afterward he gave the credit to his offensive teammates, his coaches and the defense.
The IAHHM Take
This is the Bryce Young Carolina was waiting on. Year four, prime time, at home against one of the NFC’s best teams, and he played like the guy the Panthers traded up to take first overall.
He had plenty of help. Chuba Hubbard ran 20 times for 122 yards and two scores. Tetairoa McMillan caught 14 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, a record-setting night for the second-year receiver. It was 16-16 at the half, and Carolina won the second half 16-10. That kind of finish is how a team grows up.
The bigger picture: the Panthers made the playoffs in 2025, and a Sunday night win over Detroit says last year wasn’t a one-off. If you’re in the Carolinas, you can feel it. The Queen City is loud again, and Young is the reason.
Next up is a bye, then the Philadelphia Eagles on October 18 at 1 p.m. ET. That one shows us whether the “MVP” chants were early or right on time. (We broke down the matchup before kickoff in our Lions at Panthers player props preview.)
So be honest: is Bryce Young a top-10 QB right now, or does Carolina need to see it against Philly first?
