Mike Tomlin spent 12 years quietly building a massive Minecraft city, and Le’Veon Bell has the perfect response to it.
As first reported by ClutchPoints, the former Steelers head coach dropped a 19-minute YouTube video walking through a hyper-detailed virtual metropolis he’s been working on across several console generations. It went viral overnight.
Nobody saw this coming. Tomlin stepped away from Pittsburgh after 19 seasons and has a new broadcasting gig with NBC Sports. Folks figured his free time was going to film study, not high-rise interior design.
Bell, who ran the ball for Tomlin’s Steelers, saw a clip of the apartment interiors and went straight to X.
“we were tryna win super bowls and coach T was on minecraft building cities,” he wrote.
According to Tomlin, the project actually started on PlayStation 3 as a way to connect with his kids. Over time it turned into a full-on passion.
The IAHHM Take
Bell’s joke lands because there’s real history behind it. From 2013 to 2017, he was a centerpiece of the “Killer B’s” offense with Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown. Over 62 regular-season games in Pittsburgh, he put up 5,336 rushing yards, 2,660 receiving yards and 42 total touchdowns.
He also set a Steelers playoff record in the 2016 postseason, running for 170 yards on 30 carries in an 18-16 divisional round win over Kansas City.
All that talent, and that group never made it to a Super Bowl. So yeah, Bell’s allowed to laugh about it.
We love this side of Tomlin. A coach known for being locked in turns out to be a dad who built a whole city to hang with his kids. Plenty of grown folks have a game they’ve been grinding for a decade, too.
Now the real question: what would you rather see from Tomlin next, a return to the sideline or a full Minecraft city tour series?
