Dennis Haskins, who played Principal Richard Belding on Saved by the Bell, has died at 75. His agent, Jay Schachter, confirmed his death to ABC News. A cause of death has not been released.
For a whole generation, Mr. Belding was the principal of Bayside High and the guy who always walked in at the wrong time with “Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?” He first played the role on Good Morning, Miss Bliss in 1989, then on Saved by the Bell from 1989 to 1993, and for seven more seasons on Saved by the Bell: The New Class through 2000. His last turn as Belding came in a 2015 reunion sketch on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Haskins also appeared on Mad Men, How I Met Your Mother, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Saved by the Bell was after-school TV for millions of kids in the ’90s, right alongside the music videos and shows that shaped the culture. Rest in peace, Mr. Belding.
