 What I saw and where I grew up, music was my escape, I saw a lot as a kid growing up in the projects so music took me to higher places in my mind. That shit is powerful! 

Making her IAHHM debut coming straight outta the Magnolia projects of New Orleans, Louisiana, I’d like to introduce a lot of yall to the natural-born hustler Luxury Lique. This rising emcee, fashionista and entrepreneur is gaining traction on social media and in the streets fresh off the release of her debut EP “The Power Behind The Throne” and newest single “Spend Some Cash” which are both respectively available on all streaming platforms and can be stream below.

We were able to catch up with the Magnolian Hustler Luxury Lique as she sat down to talk about life and struggles in the music industry, R&B and Rap influences, being a business owner, goals and expectations as an independent artist, producers and much more. What’s your favorite project so far this year? My first ep! “ The Power behind the thorn” that dropped on v day this year!
FAVORITE HIP HOP GROUP OF ALL TIME? 
Omg I don’t know many hip hop groups I’m more of an R& B Group type of chick.. but I loved all them r & b groups when I was kids all the 90’s groups lol 
WHAT HAS THE HARDEST OBSTACLE AS AN INDEPENDENT RECORDING ARTIST BEEN? For me I lost someone meant so much to me, she showed me the music game at age 13 from a whole side I never knew and I almost gave up after she was killed, I was to write Magnolia Shorty new hits before she was killed so that took a toll on my music for a minute but I know she would not want me to give up so I got back into it like I never left! 
WHAT PLATFORM ARE YOU USING TO DISTRIBUTE YOUR MUSIC AND WHY

WHAT IS YOUR STANCE ON KANYE WESTHe’s woke that’s all! No this is wrong with him! I think I know what’s up!! 
HOW MANY ARTISTS HAVE YOU COLLABORATED WITH LOCALLY?  Not many local artists in New Orleans at this time yet! I have a couple in mind for future events! 
HOW SERIOUS ARE YOU ABOUT MAKING A LIVING FROM MUSIC? ARE YOU A STUDENT OF THE GAME? I was a student I learned the game by studying legends I figured it out! Lol, it’s all a drive you have to keep pushing and push your way in the door. 
WHAT IS LACKING IN HIP HOP MUSIC THAT YOU THINK YOU CAN CHANGE? Lack of not putting a muthafuka on lol… but we make our own way now! The first will be last now! It’s our turn!

Not sure, I just supporting all producers the first 4 bars if it’s hot it’s a go! I know for sure London hot tho!

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY SINGER MALE OR FEMALE FOR A JOINT ALBUM WHO WOULD IT BE? I definitely would do neyo for sure or August cause he’s from New Orleans like me! 
DO YOU THINK THE STREAMING ERA IS HURTING OR BENEFITING ARTISTS THESE DAYS? Really think it’s super dope to get paid from it! But when they not paying you that’s wack. 
WHAT WOULD YOUR ADVICE BE TO ASPIRING ARTISTS FROM YOUR AREA?

Where are you from? 
I’m from New Orleans

-How did the crew get started? 
I started rapping over the phone on 3 way with friends in the 6th grade 
-When and how did you get into music? 
My family was always musically inclined my mom would Always buy me instruments I can play flute and piano 
-How did you choose your rap name? 
Well I started off as B Short cause I was always the smallest in the class lol but I changed that to the RagDoll because I opened my first business at 19 and people would call me “Lique the RagDoll” so I went with that til like about 24 then I was grown grown and they had so many dolls at this point, I just wanted to be myself, I love high-end luxury shit so I grew up and became “ Luxury Lique” from my new business name Luxury Studio with was supposed to be a place to record my music but it’s a spa now lol! But I will have a place to record of my own soon lol 

How will you change the industry? By being myself and removing the smoke and mirrors that the game has on! 
-Who is in your mainstream top 5? 
I love music so I. Any just pick 5 lol 
-What motivated or inspired you to record your last project? What I saw and where I grew up, music was my escape, I saw a lot as a kid growing up in the projects so music took me to higher places in my mind. That shit is powerful! 
Has there been any time in your journey where you felt like pursuing something else instead of music? Yes that’s why I opened my business at 19 to become a better business women/ Entrepreneur that god hand and hand with the music business also… it’s all about marketing and sales and of course making good music!!! 


Whose side were you on.. Biggie Or Pac? 

I loved both I can’t side with legends just like nas and jay z I love both! 
If you had one song of yours to perform on national tv which would it be? I’m on it!! It’s dope! 
If you were offered a perfect distribution/sponsorship from every major company in America which company would suit you and your brand the most? Roc nation I’ve been doing my research Incase that happens lol I’m big on business and being fair Ana so far it’s fair 
-What is your favorite movie? Favorite actor?
 Coming to America and fav actor is Eddie Murphy 
-Tell me some of your biggest and/or most enjoyable moments so far
The love and support from my family when I didn’t hit the stage for a Kevin gates concert I was to open up for this 4th of July it really opened my eyes to the real and the fake and it was so much love at the end! 
-What equipment and software do you use to record/produce? Whatever my engineer use lol my job is to rap and direct and he gets it right every time! 
-Name 3 things that make you unique as an artist? 
Being from New Orleans 
My voice, Starting off as a young business owner knowing the business! 

Where do you see yourself going with this? What are your big plans? I feel this shit going beyond my expectations! This is huge! I’m
Ready! God prepared me for this! 

-Any projects in the works?Yeap my new single “ Spend Some Cash” is out and my ep “ The Power Behind The Throne” is out both are fresh now I’m just working on visuals and doing more shows!
