Q: WHERE DOES DRAKE RANK IN YOUR BEST OVERALL RAPPER LIST? WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PUSHA T BEEF DID FOR BOTH PARTIES?
A: every since I started rapping I don’t really see a best and more because I love so many different sounds but in my favorite rapper list he sits at about number 5 on my list. I think for Pusha t it deff helped promote his album and for Drake, I don’t think it helped or gutted his album but I think the beef spoiled the Drake album for the simple fact that he would have been revealing he had a child through the music.
Q: FAVORITE HIP HOP GROUP OF ALL TIME?
Q: WHAT HAS THE HARDEST OBSTACLE AS AN INDEPENDENT RECORDING ARTIST BEEN?
A: consistent social media promo and campaigning most definitely. Honestly, if it wasn’t for chasing this dream of mine I wouldn’t have a strong presence on social media, other then twitter… I love twitter.
Q: WHAT PLATFORM ARE YOU USING TO DISTRIBUTE YOUR MUSIC AND WHY?
A: right now I’m weird honestly, the majority of my music drops can be found on SoundCloud, and my first project “a LIGHT tape” and be found both on there and Spinrilla. I like using SoundCloud for songs that I choose to drop on the fly. The mixtape that I am working on right now entitled mind games will not be available on for streaming on SoundCloud, but it will be on Apple Music and Spotify, I feel those are the platforms you should be targeting for major projects full-length tapes, albums etc….
Q: WHAT IS YOUR STANCE ON KANYE WEST
A: cant take any of his hits or accomplishments away I don’t agree with some of his actions or comments, and they have effected the way I hear his music, but none the less a legend
Q: HOW MANY ARTISTS HAVE YOU COLLABORATED WITH LOCALLY?
A: haven’t collaborated with any artist in the ville yet. Been focused on my tape and I find in the creative process of creating a body of work it’s difficult trying to feed off others energy while maintaining my own. I do wanna work with a lot of artist tho like pumaxay, Malcom Chester, and a few others in the near future
Q: HOW SERIOUS ARE YOU ABOUT MAKING A LIVING FROM MUSIC? ARE YOU A STUDENT OF THE GAME?
A: extremely! Since I’ve started doing music I feel whole. I Feel the love. I feel something in general. To be able to provide a better life for my family doing what I love would be a dream come true. I try to soak up every bit of knowledge I can and put it too good use. In order to know what to do when you reached the top you HAVE to be a student of the game music and business.
Q: WHAT IS LACKING IN HIP HOP MUSIC THAT YOU THINK YOU CAN CHANGE?
A: Firstly before I answer this I want to say that I love where rap/hip-hop music is BUT I think that the lanes for any different sounds to get heard are small because most artists want to be like other artists. I think what I can bring empathy, and just an overall human feel back to the music I feel like the music that really speaks to people again. I want to bring back actually feels in music.
Q: IN ORDER, RANK YOUR TOP 5 PRODUCERS IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW?
A: 40, Cidy Pyramids, Pierre Bourne, metro boomin, old Kanye
Q: FAVORITE ALBUM SO FAR THIS YEAR?
A: cole’s KOD
Q: IN ORDER, RANK YOUR TOP 5 RAPPERS IN THE GAME
Q: IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY SINGER MALE OR FEMALE FOR A JOINT ALBUM WHO WOULD IT BE?
Q: DO YOU THINK THE STREAMING ERA IS HURTING OR BENEFITING ARTISTS THESE DAYS?
A: I think it benefits the artist by way of making your music more accessible to there outside of your local region.
Q: WHAT WOULD YOUR ADVICE BE TO ASPIRING ARTISTS FROM YOUR AREA?
A: if they’re anything like me they experience a lot of trial, tribulation, losing friends, and relationships. Staying sane on 9-5’s my advice would be to just keep honing your craft try different things. If you come up with new idea act on them ASAP. Learn what you have to do to make your music legit on paper!
Q: WE’VE BEEN SEEING YOU TALK A LOT ABOUT MINDGAMES, WHAT EXACTLY IS THE MEANING BEHIND IT? WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?
A: MindGames is the sophomore mixtape that I’ve been working on for about a year now.
It’s gonna be a series of events from mine and others lives that I know. I wanted this project to be as personal as possible, so a lot of content is my actual feelings, thoughts about the current state of the youth, love, heartbreak, wanting better for myself, all things that I know will resonate with a lot of people. You can expect some different sounds. I don’t want to say much but the best way I can describe it is old school meets the new modern neo-soul meets hiphop but hiphop won lol
Q: WHAT HAS THE PROCESS OF CREATING THIS PROJECT BEEN LIKE?
A: it has been a beautiful process honestly. In creating this project it’s leveled me up as an artist as far as natural talent goes. I’ve learned so much that I’ve been able to put towards my writing and production. I’ve gone through something’s along the way but hey, I’m still breathing so I must be pretty strong!
Q: WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO CALL IT MIND GAMES?
A: I feel like we all get to a point in life where we start rethinking a lot of things or even over thinking about situations, people etc etc
And from the moment I returned back to Fayetteville in 2016 that was me. I felt like I was caught up in between trying to reclaim everything that made me the same, but at the same time find the new me. I was dealing with people from my past but stuck between leaving them there or attempting to pull them into my present, constantly moving because I couldn’t sit steal. When I have conversations with my peers I can tell they are in a similar space. So, I just thought that the title its self would resonate with a lot of people young or old. It’s almost more of an experience than a mixtape.
Q: CAN WE EXPECT ANY FEATURES?
A: I will have a feature or 2 on the tape, only one person outside of the AZUS team will be featured on the tape this go around.
Q: RELEASE DATE?
A: It’s a cold weather type tape! That’s all I can really say about that right now! MINDGAMES2018. I will be dropping the track-list and back cover very soon! I’ve been working very hard to make sure this was a no skip project, so trust me it’s worth the wait!
Q: ARE YOU GOING TO DROP ANYTHING TO HOLD US OVER WHILE WE WAIT?
A: yes! Actually, I’m dropping a playlist soon, was supposed to drop on the 9th but had to push it back a tad so, for now, this is my new song “BeLIEVE (mind games freestyle) strictly for this interview
