Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg just made the kind of purchase every hooper dreams about: he surprised his mother, Yissel Raposo, with a brand-new house, as first reported by ClutchPoints. The moment was the subject of his very first YouTube video.
“I’m nervous now. On behalf of everybody that came to show up, welcome home,” Lendeborg said in the clip.
Mom Put Him on This Path
Raposo is a former Dominican Republic national team player, and Lendeborg credits her for his career: “[My mom] pretty much put me on this path.”
The timing is perfect. The 23-year-old, taken No. 11 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, is averaging about 21 points a game. He had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in Thursday’s 120-100 win over the Miami Heat. Golden State is 6-3, riding six straight wins after an 0-3 start, and hosts the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
The IAHHM Take
Buying mom a house is a rite of passage in this culture. It’s the moment that turns all the early mornings, the travel ball and the sacrifice into something you can walk into. Doing it in your first month as a pro, and filming it, shows Lendeborg knows exactly who got him here.
Hoopers and rappers have been doing this for decades, from first checks to first deals. What’s the best “I bought my mom a house” moment you’ve ever seen? Drop it below.
