Jaylen Brown Tells Daniel Radcliffe NBA Awards Are ‘Made Up,’ and Sorts Himself Into Slytherin

Jaylen Brown sat down with Daniel Radcliffe for a podcast conversation, and the most interesting thing he said had nothing to do with jump shots. The Sixers forward told the Harry Potter star that the awards players chase don’t define him, as reported by ClutchPoints.

“If you wrap your identity in that, you will never be happy,” Brown said, calling outside validation something that’s “made up.” Instead, he says he measures his day with questions like, “Was I a good leader today? How did I handle adversity today?”

The IAHHM Take

It’s easy to wave this off as a guy with hardware saying hardware doesn’t matter. Brown has five All-Star nods, two All-NBA selections, and was Finals MVP on Boston’s 2024 title team. But that’s exactly why it lands. He’s been on both sides of the awards conversation, snubbed and celebrated, and he’s telling young hoopers the same thing a lot of artists learn the hard way: if you need the plaque to feel like you made it, you’ll never feel like you made it.

Then it got fun. Radcliffe reportedly suggested Gryffindor or Ravenclaw for Brown, per Complex. Brown picked Slytherin and defended it: “Everybody in Slytherin is not evil.” He even used the image of seeds buried in the dark and stars that only show up after sunset to explain why darkness isn’t automatically bad.

That’s peak Jaylen. The guy has always been more than a hooper, from his work off the court to conversations like this one that go places most athletes avoid. A Slytherin with a growth mindset tracks.

So which house are you putting JB in? And which hooper is the most Gryffindor player in the league right now? Let us hear it.
