Megan Thee Stallion’s “Thin Ice” is catching fire. Daily U.S. on-demand streams for the record jumped 152% from October 24 to 26, according to Billboard’s report on Luminate data, as reported by AllHipHop.
The daily count went from 98,000 streams on Saturday to 174,000 on Sunday and 247,000 on Monday, about 519,000 across the three days. “Thin Ice” comes from Megan’s Tina Tuesday freestyle series. It hit YouTube first, with the official performance going up on her channel October 20, and landed on streaming services October 24. That video had more than 10.9 million views by October 28.
One fun detail: the track samples the intro of Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff.” Rap and nu-metal at full volume.
The IAHHM Take
A freestyle doing numbers like this says a lot. No big rollout, no radio push, just Megan rapping her tail off and the fans running it up. The song hadn’t even entered the Hot 100 when Billboard reported the jump, so keep an eye on next week’s chart.
The business side matters too. In August, Megan announced a partnership with Interscope for worldwide distribution while keeping her masters and publishing, with Hot Girl Productions still home to her music. “I’ve always wanted to create music on my terms while building a legacy that extends beyond the industry,” she said at the time. After her long fight with 1501 Certified, which settled in 2023, that ownership is a big win.
She also told Marie Claire she spent the summer recording and rewriting Act III. If Tina Tuesday is the warm-up, the album could be serious. Is “Thin Ice” a sign that Hot Girl season is back, or just a fun one-off?
