Dak Prescott Took a Shot to the Ribs on SNF, Then Refused the Excuse

Dak Prescott says the hit to his ribs on Sunday Night Football had nothing to do with the interception that followed, after the Dallas Cowboys fell 23-13 to the Green Bay Packers, as reported by ClutchPoints.

Prescott took a shot that knocked the wind out of him and needed a moment to catch his breath before throwing a pick. According to his account, relayed by reporter Jon Machota, he stayed in the game and shut down the idea that the pain caused the turnover. His words: “I’m not a guy of excuses.”

Dallas never really got going. The Cowboys were shut out in the first half and went into the break down 17-0. Prescott finished 34-of-54 for 258 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. George Pickens led the team with 73 receiving yards on six catches, CeeDee Lamb added nine catches for 70, and Javonte Williams and Ryan Flournoy each found the end zone.

The IAHHM Take

Respect to Dak for not hiding behind the ribs. But look at that stat line again: 54 pass attempts for 258 yards. That is under five yards per throw. When your quarterback is dropping back that many times, it usually means you were chasing the game from the jump, and that is exactly what happened.

The Cowboys are 2-4 now, and the schedule is not doing them any favors. Next up is a road trip to Philadelphia on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 8:15 p.m. ET. Another prime-time loss to the Eagles and the 2026 conversation in Dallas changes fast.

Green Bay, meanwhile, is 4-2 and headed to Detroit for a big Week 7 division game.

Is this on Dak, or is the problem bigger than the quarterback in Dallas?
