Tom Brady Called Parker Washington ‘An Absolute Dog,’ and the Jaguars WR Is Using It as Fuel

Tom Brady gave Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington his flowers in an Instagram video after Jacksonville’s Week 5 win over the Eagles, and Washington says that kind of praise “means everything,” as first reported by ClutchPoints.

In the video, Brady said Washington has “transformed from a fun story into an absolute dog,” and joked that the sixth round is where you look when you need talent. Brady would know. He was a sixth-round pick by the Patriots in 2000. Washington went in the same round to Jacksonville in 2023.

In a video posted by Action Sports Jax, Washington said getting recognition from “not even one, but the best” is “just motivation to keep going.” When someone reminded him he was a sixth-rounder too, he kept it simple: “Some special players in that round.”

The IAHHM Take

This is the kind of story that never gets old. Late-round guys don’t get the hype, the NIL headlines or the benefit of the doubt. They have to earn every rep, and Washington has done that. The former Penn State standout led the Jaguars with 847 yards and five touchdowns last season. Through five games this year, he has 22 catches for 352 yards and four scores.

His best game came against Philadelphia: six catches, 124 yards and two touchdowns in a 19-17 win. That pushed Jacksonville to 4-1 and a three-game winning streak, and suddenly the Jags look like a team nobody wants to see.

A co-sign from the GOAT is cool. But the real respect comes from defensive coordinators, and they are going to start game-planning for him. Can Washington keep this up when he becomes the guy instead of the surprise?
