Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker was back on the practice field Tuesday, and he sounds like a man trying to make it to Sunday. Coker hurt his quad in Carolina’s 21-18 loss to the Browns and sat out the Week 4 game against Detroit, but he took part in the team’s unofficial practice coming out of the bye, according to ClutchPoints.
“Feeling good, just gonna keep practicing every day and we’ll see what happens,” Coker said. Head coach Dave Canales said after the bye that Coker was on track to return. The first official answer comes Wednesday, when the Panthers put out their Week 6 injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The IAHHM Take
Carolina is 2-2 and sitting on top of the NFC South coming out of the bye. Nobody in Charlotte is booking parade routes, but in a division this wide open, every week matters, and the Eagles are the kind of opponent that tells you who you really are.
Coker matters here because he’s been one of the receivers who makes this offense less predictable. When he’s out, defenses can squeeze the rest of the passing game. With him back, Bryce Young has another target who has earned trust the hard way, as an undrafted guy who worked his way into the rotation.
Keep an eye on Wednesday’s report. Full participation means he’s likely a go. Limited means it’s a Friday decision.
Panthers fans: if Coker plays, does Carolina have a real shot at knocking off Philly? Sound off.
