New Music Friday: Gunna, Rick Ross, Offset & Don Toliver, Johnny Venus and More

Fourth quarter is usually when the heavy hitters line up, but this Friday felt lighter than normal. HotNewHipHop’s weekly release rundown notes the slowdown and points out that some labels are reportedly holding albums until 2027 to protect budgets. Even so, there’s enough here to fill your weekend rotation.

The Headliners

Gunna, “Pop It”: Wunna keeps the momentum going with a new single built for the club and the car.

Rick Ross, “Loaded”: The Biggest Boss doesn’t need a rollout. He drops a record and lets the luxury talk for itself.

Offset & Don Toliver, “Every Night”: Offset’s cadence next to Don’s melodies is a pairing that makes sense on paper. Now we get to hear it.

Johnny Venus, “THE 11TH HOUR”: The EARTHGANG half steps out on his own again, and Atlanta’s alternative lane gets a little deeper.

Albums Worth Your Time

Ovrkast., STRIKING: The Bay Area rapper-producer has been one of the most consistent names in the underground. A full project is the best way to hear him.

Pitbull, Pitcoin: Mr. Worldwide is still dropping albums, and the title alone tells you where his head is.

Also Out This Week

  • Jessie Reyez & Samara Cyn, “FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN”
  • Ray Vaughn, “Set It Off”
  • Doe Boy, “MR. WALK EM DOWN”
  • KA$HDAMI, “BLUEPRINT”
  • LaRussell, Reecebeats, Tietta & Splash, “It’s All Love”
  • Almighty Jay, “when?”

IAHHM Take

The Jessie Reyez and Samara Cyn link-up is the one we’re running back first. Samara Cyn has been building quietly, and putting her next to a voice as raw as Reyez is a smart look for both of them. On the bigger side, a lighter release week isn’t a bad thing. It gives songs room to breathe instead of getting buried by Monday. If labels really are shelving albums until 2027, independent artists like LaRussell and Ovrkast. have an open lane this fall. They should take it.
