Victor Wembanyama made it clear Thursday that he’ll never promote sports betting, and Milwaukee’s Kyle Kuzma quickly pushed back on how the debate is being framed, as ClutchPoints reported.
Asked at Spurs practice whether he’d ever endorse a betting site, Wemby didn’t hesitate: “Absolutely not. I will never do that. Honestly, I think it’s very sad to see some players promote it. Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”
Kuzma’s Counter
Kuzma took to X with a different angle. He said people criticizing LeBron James and others tied to prediction markets are “totally misinformed,” comparing that to “calling the stock market a casino.” His point: prediction markets are regulated exchanges where users trade with each other, not a house that profits when you lose.
The IAHHM Take
Both of these things can be true. Wemby is 22, the face of a franchise, and choosing not to sell betting to a young fan base. That’s a stand worth respecting. Kuzma is right that a sportsbook and a prediction market aren’t built the same way. But for the fan losing their rent money, the label doesn’t change much.

Where do you land: Team Wemby or Team Kuzma?
