JJ Redick Reveals a Lakers Player Accidentally Broke Into His Neighbor’s House

JJ Redick just gave Lakers media day its best story: Quentin Grimes showed up to the wrong house in his coach’s neighborhood, let himself into a stranger’s guest house, and posted the pool on Instagram.

Redick told the story at media day, as first reported by ClutchPoints, with the clip first going around via LakersMuse on X.

Here’s how it went down. This summer, Redick invited Grimes, one of the Lakers’ new offseason additions, to stay at his guest house so the two could put in gym work together. Redick sent the address and told him where the key was.

Simple enough, right? Redick was clear on that part: “It’s a very, very specific address, as all addresses are.”

Redick came back from a morning round of golf to grab Grimes for a workout. Grimes had already told him he’d arrived. But the guest house was empty, and there was no extra car in sight.

So the coach did what any of us would do. He checked Instagram. There it was: Grimes posting a pool shot from a different house in the neighborhood, with a “Hamptons Life” type hashtag on it.

Redick’s message to his new guard was short and to the point: “Where the F are you, dude?” Turns out Grimes and his crew had walked right into a neighbor’s guest house instead.

The IAHHM Take

Stories like this are what team chemistry actually looks like. It’s not just drills and film. It’s the stuff your teammates will clown you about all season.

It also tells you something about where this Lakers group is. After a big offseason roster overhaul, Redick has been opening up his home to help new pieces get comfortable, and Luka Doncic hosted teammates in Slovenia before camp too. The vibes are being built on purpose.

For the 26-year-old Grimes, the first impression is officially locked in. Now he just has to make sure the next headline is about his game, not his GPS.

Real talk: if you walked into the wrong house and found a pool, are you posting it or leaving quietly?
