Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins was beaming with pride after they defeated the Los Angeles Chargers, 26-14, on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
With Cousins leading the charge, the Raiders improved to 2-0 after beating the Miami Dolphins, 27-13, in Week 1 at Allegiant Stadium. The last time Las Vegas won its first two assignments was in 2021.
While it is still early, former NFL star Russell Wilson made a confident prediction about Cousins, who signed a five-year, $172 million contract with the Raiders in April.
“I think Kirk Cousins wins Comeback Player of the Year,” said Wilson on “Set, Hut!”
Wilson touted Cousins’ resolve, adding that it shows the character of the 38-year-old signal-caller.
“Kirk has gone through a lot of stuff in the past couple of years. He’s managed it well. I think Kirk Cousins has done a great job of managing all the noise around him, saying he’s done and this and that,” said Wilson.
“Kirk Cousins has responded in a great way. That’s what this game is about. You gotta keep going. You gotta have that grit. I think Kirk has had the grit throughout his career.”

Cousins has been phenomenal in their promising start. Against the Dolphins, he went 21-of-30 for 160 yards and three touchdowns. He followed it up by going 19-of-29 for 253 yards and three touchdowns against the Chargers.
Wilson posited that the four-time Pro Bowler will continue to benefit from his tight relationship with coach Klint Kubiak. They spent three seasons together on the Minnesota Vikings, with Kubiak as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.
Cousins could become only the second player in franchise history to be named Comeback Player of the Year after former Oakland quarterback Jim Plunkett in 1980.
The Raiders will face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
