Tomorrow, from 10am to noon, IAHHM will be in the room in Fayetteville for The Fall-Off Magazine Conversation Live — part of the Blueprint Speaker Series, built around J. Cole’s The Fall Off magazine. It’s one more piece of a week that already has the Fall-Off Tour closing at Crown Coliseum and the Indie 5000 sneaker launching in the same city, on the same day.
What The Fall Off actually is
The Fall Off is a 144-page print magazine Cole released this past July, built with more than 60 writers, photographers, illustrators, and designers. Lauryn Hill, JID, GloRilla, and Larry June are confirmed contributors inside it. Cole has described it as an ode to the rap magazines that shaped earlier generations — something built to document “hip hop’s glorious past, the documentation of its present, and contemplations on the culture’s future.” Copies are available in person in Charlotte, and online at thefalloff.com/magazine.
Why a print magazine in 2026
The magazine wasn’t a side project. It marked the actual start of the rollout for The Fall-Off and the tour behind it, launching months before the album and tour dates followed. That sequencing matters: Cole led with a physical object built around writing and photography, not a single or a trailer, before any of the more conventional rollout beats.
Who’s confirmed for the room
The event has a name and a lineup now. Rakeem “Keem” Jones — owner of Keem Jones Content Collection, and the same voice behind the Underground Keem page that first put this on our radar — is hosting. Two people directly behind the magazine’s actual pages are confirmed as panelists: Felton Brown, The Fall-Off Magazine’s creative director (also tied to Dreamville), and Walter C. Barnett, the magazine’s art director (also tied to the Dreamer side of Cole’s operation). That’s not a general hip-hop panel booked to talk around the project — it’s two of the people who actually built it, in the room, in Fayetteville.

The Fall-Off Magazine Conversation Live runs Wednesday, September 23, from 10am to noon, at Seabrook Auditorium on Fayetteville State University’s campus — 1200 Murchison Road, Fayetteville, NC 28301. The Matriculation Institute, Dreamville, Keem Jones Content Collection, and FSU’s Department of Communication, Languages and Cultures are all listed as presenters. RSVP is required for entry; anyone trying to get in should contact Dr. Roderick T. Heath at rheath1@uncfsu.edu ahead of time. FSU has noted the event is open to all students, faculty, and staff regardless of sex, gender, or sexual orientation.
What to expect tomorrow
With a host and two panelists from inside the magazine confirmed, this reads less like a general Q&A and more like an actual walkthrough of how The Fall Off got made — the writing, the photography, the design choices, straight from the people who made them.
