Cheryl Reeve had plenty of praises to sing about Olivia Miles following the Minnesota Lynx’s clash with the Washington Mystics on Friday night.
Miles is nearing the end of her first regular season in the WNBA, shining as a standout player for the Lynx. She’s played a pivotal role in helping Minnesota shine as an elite squad this year, being in the mix of title contention.
Reeve reflected on Miles’ overall performances after Minnesota’s contest against Washington, per reporter Cassidy Hettesheimer. She is fully aware of the star rookie’s impact, knowing the team wouldn’t be as successful without her presence on the court.
“You have a 31-7 team … If Olivia Miles doesn’t play, we’re not 31-7, and so, to me, I think MVP awards should go to teams that are at the top, especially if that player, if she’s not out there,” Reeve said.
“She’s got curiosity to her. She doesn’t have the answers. She’s got curiosity, and she leans on people to tell her what she should expect, and that’s really special. Tis is not somebody that’s going, hey, look at me, I know everything.”

Cheryl Reeve will look forward to Olivia Miles’ growth in the WNBA, seeing another great performance from her after the Lynx’s 94-84 victory over the Mystics.
Four players scored in double-digits for Minnesota in the win, including Miles. She finished with a stat line of 24 points, seven assists, three rebounds, and three steals. She shot 10-of-22 from the field, including 2-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Natasha Howard came next with 21 points and seven rebounds, Kayla McBride had 18 points and three assists, while Courtney Williams provided 13 points and eight assists.
Minnesota improved to a 31-7 record on the season, controlling the top spot in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Golden State Valkyries and the Las Vegas Aces at the moment.
Rolling with six consecutive wins, the Lynx will look forward to their next matchup. They are at home when they host the Valkyries as tip-off commences on Aug. 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
