Vince Staples is entering the NBA 2K universe in a role much larger than a celebrity cameo.
2K revealed Tuesday that the rapper and actor will portray Cam, the MyPLAYER’s cousin and one of the central figures in NBA 2K27’s MyCAREER story, “Fire & Concrete.” Staples supplied Cam’s voice and performed motion capture for the role, helping guide the player’s journey from New York’s outdoor courts to the NBA.
The modern storyline contains 11 chapters, giving it more than twice the length of the campaign in NBA 2K26. It opens with a highly regarded high school player committed to Duke before a serious car crash threatens his future. Two years later, he resumes his pursuit at a recreated Rucker Park, then works through the G League and toward the NBA.
NBA 2K27 Gives Players More Control
Cam remains important throughout that climb, appearing alongside newcomers and returning MyCAREER characters. The entire narrative will also feature an adaptive musical score for the first time.
Players can influence where they land in the draft through their prelude performance, including earning the top selection. Those who prefer a specific destination may skip forward and choose their team manually.
NBA 2K27 will also introduce MyCAREER co-op. A friend can take command of Trace Miller, the player’s customizable G League running mate, and leave or rejoin the experience as desired. Artificial intelligence controls Trace when the second player exits, while each participant earns VC and seasonal experience independently.
MyCAREER Eras adds another major option, allowing careers to begin in five different periods, from Magic Johnson and Larry Bird’s 1984 landscape through Stephen Curry’s 2016 era.
