Game 1 of the NBA Finals is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. EST. With the New York Knicks set to take on the San Antonio Spurs for the first contest of the seven-game series to determine this year’s champion, Mitchell Robinson has finally been given an official injury status.
The 28-year-old center is the only player for both teams on the latest injury report for the first game of the NBA Finals. Robinson’s status is up in the air the day before the matchup, as he is officially questionable due to a fractured pinky finger in his right hand.

Mitchell Robinson: Questionable – Right Hand; Fractured Right 5th Metacarpal
The injury initially occurred in late May. However, exactly how Robinson fractured his right pinky is unknown. Knicks head coach Mike Brown claimed the injury did not occur during a playoff game or during practice. It must have taken place after the Eastern Conference Finals, as Robinson played all four games in the club’s sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In fact, the eight-year veteran has only missed one game throughout the playoffs, missing the 108-102 Game 2 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round. When healthy, Robinson has been a solid rotational option for the Knicks, averaging 5.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks per game with a 73.7% field goal percentage so far this postseason.
The Knicks will have until about 5 p.m. EST on Wednesday to determine Mitchell Robinson’s official status for Game 1 of the NBA Finals. If he is unable to play, Ariel Hukporti and Mohamed Diawara should receive extra playing time to fill the void at center behind Karl-Anthony Towns.
