“KOD” album review.

You know we pretty much-gotta wait about 2 years for every J. Cole album so when he drops it’s legit a holiday, we celebrate him.. the whole “J. Cole is trash” wave seems like just an internet thing because in the real world it’s the complete opposite.. he’s breaking records and selling so many albums you can pretty much say the haters are secretly enjoying his music.. here we have “KOD“.. at first I thought it stood for “King Of Dreamville” but it’s actually.. “Kids on Drugs, King Overdosed and Kill Our Demons“.

12 tracks on here and of course… no features! (well if you wanna count kiLL edward)

This is an interesting direction for Cole, I knew immediately when he dropped the cover we were in for something new from him.. and at the top saying “this album is in no way intended to glorify addiction“.. like uh oh what you got for us Cole? This album is fire man.. different beats but still his style and he switched up his flow on some songs.. I love the fast flow from Cole.. songs that stood out to me? “Photograph” for starters.. we can all relate to falling for someone on the internet from their photos but know nothing about them.. “i shoot my shot and it brick!” is usually how it goes.. next there’s “Brackets“.. woah woah woah woah yeah yeahyeahyeaaaah, i love the smooth beat along with the vocals.. sounds like it was A Tribe Called Quest influenced.. and the Uncle Sam part had me dying.. and last of course the song that caught everybody’s attention “1985“, talking to the new wave of hip-hop but it seems like he was speaking more to Lil Pump since he mentioned being dissed by him and ended up having an interview with him (which was an awkward segment), Pump said the “Fuck J. Cole” wave was his fans and ran with it.. Cole was basically giving gems to the new rappers like save your money and appreciating the moment.. when i seen “Intro to The Fall Off” i was like what’s this??? Cole mentions that “The Fall Off” is a new project he’s working on.. looking forward to this, i’m assuming it’ll be in connection with “1985” or this project as a whole… great listen start to finish so go peep this or… not… choose wisely.
