Steve Kerr to Warriors Fans: Check the Schedule Before You Buy Steph Curry Tickets

Steve Kerr is telling Golden State fans up front: if you’re buying tickets to see Stephen Curry, look at the schedule first, because the Warriors are cutting back his workload this season.

Speaking ahead of the season, Kerr laid it out plainly, as reported by Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area and first picked up by ClutchPoints. “We have fans who buy tickets expecting to see Steph,” he said, adding that people expect to see the vets, “and then we have a back-to-back, and we don’t play him.”

His advice: “be mindful (of the schedule) when you’re buying the tickets,” because it’s not just Curry. Golden State has multiple veterans to manage, including Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Al Horford, Gary Payton II and De’Anthony Melton.

The IAHHM Take

Respect to Kerr for saying it out loud instead of letting fans find out when they’re already in their seats. Curry is 38 and heading into his 18th season. Last year he played just 43 games, his fewest since 2019-20, and still averaged 26.6 points while shooting 39.3% from three.

The goal, Kerr said, is “trying to find that sweet spot” where Curry stays in rhythm and can still give them 32 to 34 minutes on the nights he plays. That’s the smart move. A fresher Steph in April matters more than a tired Steph on a Tuesday in January.

For Carolina, this one hits home. Curry is Charlotte’s own, the Davidson kid who changed how the whole sport is played. If the Warriors’ trip to Charlotte lands on the wrong end of a back-to-back, a lot of local fans are going to feel it. Check those dates before you pay up.

Is load management the right call for a 38-year-old Steph, or should fans who pay to see stars get them every night? Let us hear it.

More NBA: Tyrese Haliburton went back to OKC and dropped 24 in a half.
