Brandin Podziemski Gets Paid: Warriors Lock Him Up With a $110 Million Extension

The Golden State Warriors have locked in Brandin Podziemski, agreeing on Saturday to a five-year, $110 million rookie-scale extension that runs through the 2031-32 season, per ESPN. His agent, Bill Duffy, confirmed the terms.

Podziemski kept his reaction humble: “I’m grateful for this organization taking a leap with faith in me and wanting me here for the future,” he said, as ClutchPoints reported.

The IAHHM Take: Availability Is a Skill, and Podz Has It

Here’s the stat that got him paid: Podziemski played all 82 games last season, the only Warrior to do it and one of just 18 players in the league. In a year when Golden State needed bodies, he showed up every night.

He was productive too, putting up career highs across the board: 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.08 steals in 28.5 minutes, shooting 45.5% from the field. His scoring has gone up in each of his first three seasons since the Warriors took him 19th overall out of Santa Clara in 2023.

This deal is about more than one player. Golden State is building the bridge to life after Steph Curry, and Podziemski is a big part of that plan, along with young pieces like rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who Steve Kerr says can run the offense when Steph sits.

At about $22 million a year, he isn’t being paid like a star. He’s being paid like a dependable starter on a winning team, and that’s what he’s shown so far. If his scoring keeps climbing, this could look like a bargain soon.
