UCLA basketball is watching the 2026-27 roster already take shape. The Bruins and Mick Cronin are welcoming back Trent Perry to ignite the 2026-27 Final Four aspirations. Skyy Clark chose a different path by pivoting to the College Basketball Transfer Portal Tuesday.
However, there’s a catch involving the latter. Joe Tipton of On3/Rivals revealed what’s attached to Clark.
“The 6-foot-3 senior guard averaged 11.5 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game in 25-26. Started career at Illinois before moving to Louisville and then UCLA the past two seasons. He needs a waiver for an additional year,” Tipton posted.
The last part is huge…as a waiver will determine if Clark can play one more collegiate season. Or Clark may need to hire an agent and pursue a pro basketball career in the NBA or elsewhere in the event he’s denied the waiver.
Clark can garner intrigue for other CBB teams off his experiences. He’s played for three power conference representatives and knows the March Madness stage well.
He rose as a beloved fan favorite and popular internet meme, though. Clark lost a tooth against UCF during the NCAA Tournament after taking an elbow to the face. His photo immediately went viral across the online world.

Doubtful UCLA and Cronin have space for Clark to return if he can’t find his next home. Perry’s return immediately signals Cronin will trust him to lead the offense on the floor.
Cronin aims to get UCLA past the round of 32 next season. The Bruins leader asked for $5 million in NIL money to help spark next season’s run.
