WHERE DOES DRAKE RANK IN YOUR BEST OVERALL RAPPER LIST? WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PUSHA T BEEF DID FOR BOTH PARTIES?

Drake is my favorite artist right now I wouldn’t know where to rank him as far as skill. I feel like different artist do different things for different people. I think the Drake & Pusha T beef gave Pusha T name more awareness and it allow for the public to see that Drake is vulnerable too. He been invincible kinda sort of for so long. A lost is bad but he can flip this to push him to a level no one else is on.

FAVORITE HIP HOP GROUP OF ALL TIME?

The Diplomats.

WHAT HAS THE HARDEST OBSTACLE AS AN INDEPENDENT RECORDING ARTIST BEEN?

The hardest part is getting awareness. Its hard to reach a lot of people alone. I have little help in that area.

WHAT PLATFORM ARE YOU USING TO DISTRIBUTE YOUR MUSIC AND WHY?

I use the paid steaming platforms for my singles (Spotify, Apple Music, ect.) I use Soundcloud for the majority of my music because many of the beat I use are for non-profit use, or the songs I do are freestyles. This allows me to make music fast for no money. But If I really like a song I put out then I pay the producer so I can try to make sells.

WHAT IS YOUR STANCE ON KANYE WEST?

Kanye West is a innovator of music and definitely one of the top10 musicians of all time. I do not agree with his TMZ comment but I do not think he agrees with those comments either. Sometimes when you are trying to send a message and you do not plan it out mistakes are made. He just needs to become informed on issues, create, and focus on his family.

HOW MANY ARTISTS HAVE YOU COLLABORATED WITH LOCALLY?

When I was in Durham I collaborated with 3 artist: Tray, Young Fizz and Jamaica. At Fayetteville State freshman year we created a group called Boom Squad which included Jayy Dolla$, Ali, Killa Cam & Lil Savage. There was more of us but they did not rap. I also worked with Justin Timez and Rico LO, The Core, who was popular at FSU as a rapper at the time. I worked on two mix tapes with Perignon, The Sublime from E-Town. I also worked with local R&B group LivefortheMoment on multiple projects. I worked with King Keorie, from Fayetteville and also Halo who I met from college as well. There is also Afro Dope, Bay Holloway and I’m sure there are others that I can not remember. I worked with a guy from Toronto named REDD back in the day and my boy ‘mane from Brooklyn.

HOW SERIOUS ARE YOU ABOUT MAKING A LIVING FROM MUSIC? ARE YOU A STUDENT OF THE GAME?

I have been rapping sense 5 and recording sense 14 and now is the first time I feel I have music that could make something shake. I studied all of everyone’s favorite rappers from Eminem, Jay-Z, DMX, Nas, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Biggie and everyone else. I have done countless school projects on Hip-hop and history. My father was an artist as well and I learned a lot of the culture through him and I live it. I love this so much nothing could be better than making money off of music. I am built for it so I want it.

WHAT IS LACKING IN HIP HOP MUSIC THAT YOU THINK YOU CAN CHANGE?

At this moment everyone sounds the same. There has always been a sound that people want to copy and we get a thousand copy cats and have a wave. The greats in hip hop stand out because they were original and brought out a sound no one else could do. I think I could make people think more in the generation where all the negatives are the focus.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY SINGER MALE OR FEMALE FOR A JOINT ALBUM WHO WOULD IT BE?

I would definitely collab with Drake for a whole album.

DO YOU THINK THE STREAMING ERA IS HURTING OR BENEFITING ARTISTS THESE DAYS?

Streaming makes less money than physical sell but it give all artist more power. Everyone can see their own numbers which leads to better business in a fucked up industry.

WHAT WOULD YOUR ADVICE BE TO ASPIRING ARTISTS FROM YOUR AREA?

PUT OUT CONTENT! Music, videos, pictures, blog, vlog, do it all and put out stuff every single day. It will cost money get over it. Stop waiting and depending on others and do it yourself. Stop hating on one another and help each other built. We have too many people and too many resources not to win. Quality is very important but do not make that an excuse for not putting content out. Consistency wins in the long run. The first few years might not be where you win so you must love the music and the process. Life is hard but you have to keep going. Stop trying to hold all the music all the time and put it out so the world can tell you if it is good or not.
