The Story Behind: Meet CHLO

The Story Behind:Meet CHLO

“Love is my biggest inspiration. I see it and experience it every day.”

Making her first appearance on IAHHM.com is a rising artist from my hometown Fayetteville, North Carolina CHLO. CHLO has caught recognition in 2017 with the release of her mixtape “The Story Behind”

“Releasing my first project was one of the greatest experiences of my career so far. every day is a small victory when you’re living your dream. The Story Behind was my first baby and it was such a success! After I released it people just started tweeting me every day about how much they loved it. one of the best moments… something I’ll never forget was a guy proposing to his now wife after listening To my song Speechless. He told me it reminded him of why he fell in love with her. he couldn’t even explain it and THATS all I really want to do… ignite something in someone, anyone at all, to love.”
CHLO first fell in love with making music through theater doing musicals at school and in her community. Although she didn’t necessarily take it serious back then, she soon would feel empty when she enrolled in college without her equipment. “I figured that was probably a clear indicator that I should pursue music seriously. I’m still in the infatuated, honeymoon phase with music to think of doing anything else.”

“I basically got introduced to the studio through my producer Mike $antana who I accidentally met through Twitter.  He exposed me to all the people in the city that were making music and the rest is kinda history. I’ve been creating nonstop ever since. ” Since the release of “The Story Behind” CHLO has accumulated quite a buzz and is putting all her energy into her upcoming project “Girl Talk” which is set to be released early 2018. “I want to start off with a huge bang. this project means so much to me bc since TSB, my supporters have been DMing me like crazy for love advice.” With 2017 coming to a close, I expect CHLO to continue riding her success into Super Stardom in 2018. CHLO writes all her own music and prides herself on being true and authentic. She already has a strong following along with a very strong supporting cast who genuinely have her best interest. ” I book all my own shows, create these projects by myself distribute my music on my own. yunno I’m proud of that. I built this little team, my mini empire and we work so hard.” Connect with CHLO below and stream The Story Behind and be sure to check back here for the release of “Girl Talk”. Where will CHLO rank on our Top40 Charts? Our full Q&A with CHLO is available below. Leave Comments. Enjoy!

Where are you from ?
I’m from Fayetteville 2-6 Dreamville Fayettnam!

-When and how did you get into music
I first fell in love with music through theater doing musicals at school and in my community. I didn’t really start writing and singing for myself until about junior year in HS. I basically got introduced to the studio through my producer Mike $antana who I accidentally met through Twitter.  He exposed me to all the people in the city that were making music and the rest is kinda history. I’ve been creating nonstop ever since.

-How did you choose your rap name ?
I’ve had multiple names. I started as choppa chav because an ex told me I was killer like a machine gun once. i mixed that with my last name for my twitter handle and it stuck all through high school. When I was a senior I was battling my own darkness and needed to feel special so I started referring to myself as a queen. I called on my inner goddess and came up with chlothegod which a lot of people know me as now. when I decided to pursue music professionally, I dropped the god and went with my childhood nickname CHLO. I broke down to the rawest, purest me because that’s what I do when I write. I wanted everything to be harmonious.

-What is your motivation
Love is my biggest inspiration. I see it and experience it every day. I think it’s the last beautiful and powerful thing in the entire world. every single time I come into contact with it, it changes my life.

-Has there been any time in your journey where you felt like pursuing something else instead of music
for a while I didn’t even think to pursue music. when I was in HS, it was for fun. a lot of kids around town were doing it and I didn’t play sports. I had gotten too old to do the shows in the community theater so I just made music to stay out of trouble. its when I got to college and realized how empty and lost I was being out of the studio  that I decided I couldn’t live without it. I figured that was probably a clear indicator that I should pursue music seriously. I’m still in the infatuated, honeymoon phase with music to think of doing anything else.

-Tell me some of your biggest and/or most enjoyable moments so far?
Releasing my first project was one of the greatest experiences of my career so far. every day is a small victory when you’re living your dream. The Story Behind was my first baby and it was such a success! After I released it people just started tweeting me every day about how much they loved it. one of the best moments… something I’ll never forget was a guy proposing to his now wife after listening To my song Speechless. He told me it reminded him of why he fell in love with her. he couldn’t even explain it and THATS all I really want to do… ignite something in someone, anyone at all, to love.

-What equipment and software do you use to record/produce

I record with Kenny Wizard, a business partner turned friend, who I also met through Twitter via a mutual classmate. I don’t know too much about the technical side. I’ve created a team of really talented, passionate people that have my back. they pull through for me every time. I can call kenny and record at 2am if I’ve randomly been inspired. he’s always been there. I also record  with a fellow musician, Justin the Beloved who helps me explore my vocal ability. and for mixing, I usually pass it around to a couple ears starting with Ken goes to Justin and ends with my one of my bestfriends, Johnny Nobles, who I’ve been jammin with since the 6th grade. he’s another incredibly talented musician.

-Name 3 things that make you unique as an artist

Idk if I know 3 haha I think creatives are all unique. that’s why we do what we do. I pride myself on being my true, authentic self. I write all of my own music. I try to remain on an “equal” eye level with my fans. I want them to see how obtainable your goals are, you know? I try to be as interactive and generous as I can be every day. and I’m independent. I book all my own shows, create these projects by myself distribute my music on my own. yunno I’m proud of that. I built this little team, my mini empire and we work so Hard. we’re starting to see results. it’s crazy – I’m so happy.

-Where do you see yourself going with this? What are your big plans?
I always say “all the way”. I see myself going all the way and if you don’t see yourself going all the way it’s not for you. And that’s not just for music. If you don’t love something with all of your being, don’t entertain it.  it’s a waste of time. Spend your energy pursuing passions you couldn’t be without.

-Any projects in the works?
I’m working on my new project GIRL TALK set to drop at the top of the year. I want to start off with a huge bang. this project means so much to me bc since TSB, my supporters have been DMing me like crazy for love advice. I feel like shit if I don’t get to them quick enough so I decided to kind of make a FAQ tape for all my fans who need help moving forward after heartbreak be it from a boy, a girl or even the disappointments of life.

-What are your rates for features?
Features are circumstantial but I typically start at $100

-Whats the best way to get in contact with you if we need work done?
